The Conservation Corps of Greater New Orleans is a vehicle for systems change: viewing youth as assets, employers as primary partners, justice agencies as allies, and education as a living connection to solutions for community needs.

The Corps Network is establishing a new multi-site youth Corps for the Greater New Orleans region, based on the Civic Justice Corps model. The Conservation Corps of Greater New Orleans will engage 800 young people, including formerly incarcerated and court-involved youth, in environmental restoration, energy conservation, and restoration of historic structures.

About Conservation Corps of Greater New Orleans. Graduates of our rigorous AmeriCorps program will be able to tell employers and colleges that they have built service-projects from the ground up. In just 3-4 months, you will complete three service projects while gaining marketable green job skills. Participants (age 16-24) will lead need-assessments, present proposals, implement projects, and formally present their results to community stakeholders. You will learn the skills necessary to launch a new career – and get paid to do it. Make the difference you want to see in your community. Help restore and revitalize Greater New Orleans. Serve as an AmeriCorps member through CCGNO. Graduates will also receive an AmeriCorps Education Award of up to $1,250. If you are 16-24 years old and you’ve not yet had significant work experience, we hope you’ll apply to one of our programs.

The Conservation Corps of Greater New Orleans is funded at $8.5 million in a US DOL National Emergency grant, in partnership with the Workforce Investment Boards of Greater New Orleans, JOB1, the Louisiana State DOL, and the US DOL.

The project will build community capacity at six diverse sites.
