Corps Respond

Click here to view a printable document about Corps Respond.

Corpsmembers provide backbone to emergency and disaster preparedness and recovery—Corps Respond engages them and builds community capacity to deliver even more.

Corps Respond engages over 100 young adults at seven Corps nationwide in emergency and disaster preparedness and recovery. Once trained, Corps Respond members train other members of their Corps, local students, and community members. Corps Respond members receive AmeriCorps Education Awards—scholarships for additional education and training—upon successful completion of their service.

Trained Corpsmembers devote over half of their service to emergency preparedness, long-term recovery, and response to floods, wildfires, hurricanes, tornadoes, and other natural disasters. They also:

• Conduct disaster preparation, response, and recovery training for other Corpsmembers;
• Conduct disaster training for 1,000 students and other community members with hands-on national educational curricula;
• Complete other valuable environmental restoration and conservation projects benefiting public lands and local communities.

Corps Respond, an AmeriCorps*National Direct program, is funded by the Corporation for National and Community Service.
