Day of Service

About The Corps Network National Great Outdoors Day of Service

June is Great Outdoors Month: a nationally-recognized celebration of America's public lands and waters and the many ways to enjoy themThe Corps Network celebrates Great Outdoors Month with our National Great Outdoors Day of Service. Youth from Corps across the country, as well as many friends and partners of the Corps movement, come to Washington, DC to participate in service projects at iconic parks throughout the Nation's Capital. The purpose of of this event is as follows:

1. Inspire people to get outside and contribute to the preservation of America’s natural spaces.

2. Raise awareness about how Conservation Corps, volunteers and other national service programs play an extremely important role in protecting and improving our public lands.

3. Celebrate the service of Corpsmembers and other volunteers who help protect America's natural treasures and make our public lands and waters accessible.

4. Make a Difference. There is over a billion dollars in backlogged maintenance projects on National Park Service properties in the DC-area alone. We hope to make a dent in the backlog and help our partners at NPS focus on other priority projects.

We invite you to consider sponsorship of The Corps Network Great Outdoors Day of Service. This is a great way to get involved in the Corps community and the national effort to engage more youth and veterans in service on public lands.
