Outdoor Stewardship Week

A social media campaign to inspire people to

June is Great Outdoors Month™ – a celebration of America’s natural spaces and the ways to enjoy them. From June 11 – 15, 2018, The Corps Network will lead a social media campaign, Outdoor Stewardship Week, to remind everyone that we can all help maintain the places and habitats that support our favorite outdoor pastimes. Many of the activities promoted during Great Outdoors Month – including trail use, camping, boating, and fishing – would not be possible without proper stewardship of our park infrastructure and resources.

4 Easy Ways to Get Involved

  1. Stay Engaged on Social Media
    June 11 - 15, 2018
Stay active on social media throughout the week to celebrate outdoor stewards and encourage more people to get involved with efforts to maintain and improve the places we recreate. See below for shareable images and sample messages.
  2. #ServeOutdoors Twitter Chat
    June 13, 2018 (1:00 p.m. EDT)
At 1:00 p.m. ET on Wednesday, June 13, join The Corps Network on Twitter for a conversation about the importance of protecting natural and cultural resources, and to learn about and share ways for people to get involved in stewardship activities.
  3. Share a service opportunity
Does your organization offer outdoor service opportunities? Share them on greatoutdoorsmonth.org so people can learn how to be engaged stewards year-round. Contact Hannah Traverse to learn how to have your service opportunities featured -- htraverse@corpsnetwork.org

  4. Volunteer
    June 15, 2018 (8:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.)
Volunteer with The Corps Network at the 5th Annual Great Outdoors Day of Service, happening June 15 in Washington, DC. Join community members, park enthusiasts, friends of the Corps movement, and young adults from several Corps programs. The event will involve invasive species management at LBJ Memorial Grove (GW Memorial Parkway).

We join @TheCorpsNetwork to celebrate #OutdoorStewardshipWeek. Many outdoor activities wouldn’t be possible w/o proper care of parks & other shared spaces. Find out how you can #ServeOutdoors & give back https://www.greatoutdoorsmonth.org/stewardship #EscapeTheIndoors

We love to recreate outdoors, but some of our favorite places to play have been loved into disrepair. America’s national parks alone face billions of dollars in deferred maintenance. Recognize #OutdoorStewardshipWeek by learning about how you #ServeOutdoors and help care for our country’s natural and cultural treasures @TheCorpsNetwork https://www.greatoutdoorsmonth.org/stewardship
